Ducats/Tokens

A ducat is an old, usually gold, coin that was in circulation in most European countries. The word comes from Medieval Latin ducatus which means "relating to a duke" and initially meant "duke's coin" or a "duchy's coin".

National Treasure Coin will produce Ducats for your town, event or region that are custom made coins used as vouchers and souvenirs with specific value in a given area or over a specific time. If, for example, you are holding a festival and you’d like to give away vouchers that visitors can exchange for goods or services throughout the town, ducats made by us provide a really beautiful alternative to vouchers/tokens.

Souvenir ducats are popular in tourism regions worldwide and are all bespoke designs in a limited issue which makes them attractive to collectors. In the past, many cities and town made their own currencies and this concept is a little like that. It’s important to remember that these coins do not replace legal tender but work as vouchers that can be redeemed or kept forever as mementos.

In fact, these ducats are not usually “spent” at the festival or town but are kept as souvenirs and this makes them an usual but important additional source of revenue.
